15 year old Kyeswa’s story is one of incredible spirit, determination and survival against the odds.
Kyeswa suffers from epilepsy. He ran to the streets after a traumatic family break-up but one day had a fit near a railway line and was run over by a train, losing his left leg below the knee. He was treated at hospital and came to live at Tigers Clubhouse during his recovery. Tigers Club found a neuropediatrician to treat Kyeswa and his health has improved dramatically.
As he recovered, Kyeswa began talking a lot about his family and his desire to return home, so the social workers began the difficult task of finding his family.
There were great celebrations when Kyeswa was eventually reunited with his family who had given him up for dead long ago.
His return also bridged the gap between the two divided factions of the family who are now reconciled to one another.
Kyeswa is now a happy boy at home with all his siblings and the Grand Mother. Tigers Club Project continues to monitor his progress and has put the family in contact with specialist carers who will help Kyeswa cope with his disabilities.

So, what’s next for Kyeswa? He really wants to go back to school but the nearest is four miles from home which is too far for him in his current health condition. But, based on the number of times he’s beaten seemingly impossible odds in his short life, it’s a pretty sure bet that Kyeswa will be regularly attending school soon!
