Great News – Autumn 2017!
We are delighted to share with you some of the great things that are happening across Retrak projects right now. In Ethiopia we celebrated the 1,500th child registering at our Addis Transition Centre, over a ten year period. This edition also highlights the importance of the education we provide for children on the street, in our centres, and in their communities.
Education is one of the things children forced to live on the street most value at our centres. A desperate desire for an education is also what drives many children to the street in the first place. Find out how Retrak is supporting Doctor* to overcome the circumstances that led him to the street and the ambitions he has for his future.
We’re delighted to share the success of Tamrat*. He first came to a Retrak centre after a member of our outreach team met him on the streets of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia over ten years ago. This year he graduated from university.
Life skills training and catch up education, delivered by qualified full time teaching staff, is a key feature of our transition centres. In our experience, strengthening families and keeping children in education is the best long term solution to reducing the number of children living on the street.
Thanks to your continued support, thousands of children each year receive the education they need for a bright future away from the street.
